"The main function of the chakra system is to translate spiritual energy into physical energy for the sake of physical and psychological wellbeing."

A valuable read regarding the subtle layers of consciousness, this writing explores each of the seven chakras and ways of growing and healing throughout life. In 191 pages, the book is divided into two parts; the first part includes an introduction and the definition of the chakra system and how it functions. Part Two examines the journey into the chakras and then focuses on each individual chakra including such insights as psychological themes, imbalances and solutions, levels of functioning, traumas, personality types, male/female energies, happiness, life's meaning, ages of development, and psychosomatic disturbances. Further discussions within these chakras include collective imprints, evolution, interactions with other chakras, kundalini processes, and recommended practices. The book then concludes with a summary, two appendices—one on kundalini energy and the other with two questionnaires for self-examination—and a bibliography.

With the ubiquitous writings on the chakra system, it is often difficult to find a book that meets the needs of both the beginning and advanced practitioner, and this book does both beautifully. It not only is thorough in the examination of the chakras, but delves deeper into the kundalini experience and offers both insight and practices for those on a path toward wisdom. The author is well-versed in spiritual transformation and this knowledge permeates his writing. The questionnaires on the chakra personality types and the evaluation of chakra imbalances offer readers a way to more deeply engage in finding their paths in this healing system. The author is able to facilitate understanding of oft-difficult concepts in a concise and understandable manner. Yet for those who have done significant reading on the chakras, there is still new information and insight to be gained. This is a highly recommended book for healing on the energies of the "material, emotional, mental, and spiritual" realms.
