Chronicles of the Gods: Book Two
by L. Scott Cisney

"We are on an eternal journey to experience and grow as we live each of our lives."

Cisney continues the epic tale of Terra Nova Winstead, who, when nuclear war and climate change threaten to decimate Earth, is sent with her family to discover a new home and return to Earth for any survivors. Traveling on the Calypso, a large meteor converted into an interstellar spacecraft, they are the only hope for the people remaining on their dying planet. As book two of the series begins, Terra is still married to Hatcher, but she has taken on a second husband in the great leader GK, or Genghis Khan. Terra becomes pregnant, but loses the Khan when he agrees to a great sacrifice for his new family. As the action unfolds, the crew of the Calypso must attempt to rescue any remaining Earthers while facing hostilities from the brutal and deceptive AOW. Terra must now groom the Khan's son to take his place while trying to save the Earth's survivors.

This is not only an adventurous sci-fi novel but also a work of imaginative social and political commentary, thoughtful philosophical musing, and a cautionary tale. Using the other Earth scenario, the author presents an alternate history of the planet. Similar, yet profoundly different, this divergent history gives readers a glimpse at what might have been. The philosophical and societal beliefs of Terra Nova's settlers include polyamory, adherence to total equality, and a strong belief in reincarnation. The novel also works as a caution about the indiscriminate polluting of the planet and the dangers of nuclear warfare. The story is solid and enjoyable, and its characters are believable, making for a nice reading experience.
