"Time is a comfort
Time is a threat
Sometimes a reward
Sometimes a regret"

This short work of twenty poems explores a range of human emotions and experiences. A natural spiritual element is woven into these poems about American life, which is hard to miss. “Much we can do to help our Earth’s healing / Of all of the wounds we’ve inflicted on her / But we must / Listen with all of our being / And set our feet on the Path of Healing.” However, Raven-Hart also offers amusing, whimsical pieces in this collection, such as “A Maiden’s Tale,” which tells of a time, “In days of old, when knights were bold / And folks bathed none too often.” Other poems delve into the hope, despair, fear, and longing all humanity shares. Not only does the author write on a personal and emotional level, but she also presents a call to readers to take action in their own lives to embrace that which makes life worth living.

Raven-Hart writes from the heart, which gives her poetry a very personal quality. Her love of nature and the earth is evident in her work and her call for others to embrace the care and nurture needed to heal the planet. The author is skilled in both serious and humorous subject matters, rendering cerebral poems as well as those that cause one to laugh out loud. This range of expertise is impressive. Those who enjoy a variety of subject matters and pleasant surprises within a volume of poetry will find it here. Though a slim work, the collection still offers plenty for one to consider. Overall, this is an enjoyable read for poetry lovers and those wishing to find out if they are.
