By exploring counsel from great masters, and most especially the words of God and Jesus given in holy scripture, author Jones offers readers the inspiration as well as the structure needed for deeper understanding. Compelling concepts wrapped in the law of attraction, such as self-actualization and synchronicity, provide the basic framework for her thesis. One can become one's best self and reach out to others who will seemingly have been waiting for the messages one has to offer through imaginative focus based on time-honored wisdom. The "I am" revealed as God's name is a strong clue to the need to be an active participant in one's own life. And, the author suggests, it is not possible to love others and change others if one does not love oneself. Therefore, self-examination is a major first step to positive living. Remembering that God loves all his people can give special motivation. Knowing what one really wants and needs is key. Jones reminds readers of the major steps to be taken: Ask—"let the universe know what you want": Believe—that that which is desired is already there; Receive—be open to see and accept abundance.
Visualization is a critical aspect of Jones' strategy. By envisioning what one wants, it becomes gradually clearer, along with an idea of what is not wanted. Imaging can result in the synchronicity of finding the desired result—the best companion or activity—and then being secure in the knowledge that it is the best choice. "You are what you think about," so relinquishing negativity is particularly important, leading to the capacity to freely make positive changes in oneself and one's environment.
Jones began her search for happiness through self-actualization after reading about and watching the acclaimed movie The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. The ideas expressed in it, encompassing many spiritual pathways, grew within her own thinking, expanding her consciousness of what is possible for Christians in particular. She philosophizes in a straightforward narrative, using penetrating questions for the reader to contemplate, along with examples from her own life that powerfully indicate typical struggles that readers might experience in their journey to their own goals.
Although unquestionably viewing the issues of the law of attraction from a Christian stance, she does not hesitate to share related materials from the writings of others, ranging from Byrne's books and films to poets, psychologists, self-help experts, and pundits embracing other faiths. All these are cited in a helpful bibliography. She stresses stories and sayings from the Holy Bible and includes these and other source materials in the appended "Affirmations for Embracing the Law of Attraction." She has devised a well-organized structure for readers to utilize in their search for a loving attraction to what is best, grounded in journaling, encompassing self-questioning, positive affirmations, and self-actualizing attitudes. These are all arrayed in a day-by-day and step-by-step manual that readers can carry with them for constant consultation. Her book could easily be shared across a variety of contexts, from self-help workshops to certain Christian study groups.
