"You are good enough. You already possess psychic abilities. Have faith in yourself and the universe."

Belliveau’s book seeks to offer guidance for empaths who are uniquely sensitive to the feelings of others. Drawing upon her own experience, she addresses some of the more common hardships that intuitive people encounter—relationships with “emotional vampires,” feelings of estrangement and alienation, and the physical side effects of carrying other people’s emotions in the body. Belliveau recommends removing anyone from one’s life—friends, spouses, children—who may be causing distress. She describes ending a marital relationship and how her spirit guides advised her to sever ties because she was no longer happy. The final chapters offer intensely practical advice on balancing chakras, reading Tarot cards, employing crystals, “healing the inner child,” and using automatic writing to commune with one’s spirit guides.

Belliveau’s credentials are certainly impressive. She is a self-described “bringer of light” who has been communicating with angels from a young age, possesses prophetic gifts, and can sense when people are close to death. Commendably, the book demonstrates the author’s genuine interest in the well-being of others and an urgency to assist them in becoming the best version of themselves. The chapters recounting the author’s personal experience of feeling lonely and misunderstood are the best in the book. Sensitive people navigating an often cruel and confusing social landscape may be pleased to learn that their intuition can never fail them and that their biggest problem is not thinking highly enough of themselves. The book might have benefited from employing more stories and anecdotes to illustrate the often abstract concepts, and with all the focus on self-love, more information about caring for others would have been welcome. However, Belliveau’s care and concern for others shine through the pages. Her tone is warm and reassuring throughout, and her knack for encouragement proves to be her greatest gift.
