"Mitzy’s eyes seemed to gloss over as she stared into nothingness and her mind drifted back in time… to the future."

The popular college football hero, Bronson Peek, loves his classmate, the intelligent, inspirational Mitzy. He initiates a time travel project in which people are able to venture into the future, as well as visit from the future. Bronson, Mitzy, and their close friends are deeply affected by the reality of time travel. They are, by turns, excited, exhilarated, and devastated by the events in which they participate, the people whom they meet, and the situations in which they hope to be able to have influence. This is a story about people who want to make a difference as they learn about the frightening potential of letting a "god out of a box." The protagonists want to live their lives in an environment of love, happiness, and professional success but face the forced reality of a dystopian future of suffering and apathy. How will they be able to cope?

Wooten crafts the story well by letting the reader get to know and relate to the main characters as people who are familiar and relatable, both in the present and future. Among these are the lovers, the wealthy friend, the scientists, as well as other curious, privileged, and downtrodden people who are adventurers through time. As the reader relates to them, the time travel element becomes normal, introducing situations that threaten and separate the young students who are well-meaning but presently inexperienced adventurers. The ability to sympathize with and root for the characters, as well as the familiar settings and conflicts, which reflect positive as well as potentially disastrous situations in our society today, make the story thought-provoking.
