Galaxies Collide

Citi of Books

"For the past ten years, they’ve been testing and fine-tuning the ability to create a wormhole to Earth-like planets."

In the future, humanity has exhausted Earth’s natural resources. Despite impressive technological advancements, water is a severely limited precious commodity that is strictly rationed. Water supplies have been contaminated with pollutants. Fertile land for growing food is scarce. The planet’s rare minerals have been depleted. To solve the desperate situation on Earth, scientists at Quasar Technologies have worked diligently to develop a wormhole generator that will enable the colonization of other planets. After a decade of research and experimentation, the first group of people will leave Earth to embark on a two-year stay on Niton, the first of the nine planets selected to be colonized.

Fanar is a tech prodigy and the teenage son of Quasar Technologies’ leading scientists, Doctors James and Amira Monier. Reeling from the loss of his mother, Fanar will join the first group traveling to Niton in hopes of reconnecting with his father and learning the truth behind his mother’s mysterious disappearance. He is accompanied by his best friend, Oswin Carter, whose considerable knowledge of marine biology and chemistry will be invaluable to their mission. However, not everyone agrees with the plan to colonize other worlds. Violent protests threaten to derail the project before it fully gets underway.

Bratcher delivers an imaginative but realistic sci-fi tale that clearly depicts the consequences of ecocide. He explores the moral implications of colonization and its impact on indigenous inhabitants. The book also demonstrates the hypocrisy of those who resort to violence in their pursuit of moral superiority. The author manages to weave deeply profound topics into a fantastical story of intrigue and adventure as the characters explore a new world, encounter new creatures, and face unforeseen perils. Unfolding mysteries will keep readers guessing until the very end and hoping for a sequel to this highly entertaining saga.
