Lopez has created a picture book about a young man full of self-doubt who is looking for a place to belong. Upon receiving the book, young readers will likely find themselves delighted by the colorful and inviting illustrations throughout. The plight of the protagonist is easy to identify with for most children, and Lopez offers a positive approach for others to help them find their own place of self and belonging. The writing is easy to read, although it curiously slips between a more rhyming verse form and prose without a clear indication of why. Overall, however, the striking imagery and relatable story will likely draw in readers. The content offers a lot for a small group or class discussion, and it is easy to see a book like this in an elementary school or library.
