"She is the best candidate for this… not just because of her strength, but because of her perseverance. What she lacks in experience, she has it in heart."

In this fantastical tale inspired by The Lord of the Rings, the beautiful parallel world Multiria is plagued by a long history of perils. Rogius is an evil, powerful sorcerer and expert in dark magic who was imprisoned by the Sirigian warrior hero Ellios and the supreme magician Adriano using the power of the Sun Sword. But when Rogius is freed many years later, a new generation of warriors must rise to defeat him and protect Multiria from utter destruction.

Ellios’ youngest daughter, Tina, is chosen by Adriano and reluctantly accepted by the gods to prevent Rogius from issuing in an era of darkness from which the world would never recover. To accept this mission, Tina must battle self-doubt and insecurities. Bolstered by her family’s love and belief in her, Tina sets out on an epic quest to save Multiria using the ancient, all-powerful Sun Sword. Along the way, she is joined by her best friend Cézanne, whose hummingbird shoes provide the gift of flight, and by mysterious, whip-wielding Nova. The warriors align with a growing cast of allies as they encounter increasingly dangerous foes in their race to stop Rogius and his Subrace army of violent, savage beasts.

A narrator with an ambiguously defined role and a somewhat stilted narrative style and dialogue detract from the book’s overall flow. Still, the heroine denounced by the gods as “just a girl” pitted against the embodiment of evil makes for a compelling plot. Detailed backstories, comprehensive physical descriptions, and well-established personalities build convincing character depth and development. Perez uses vivid imagery to bring to life mythical kingdoms and novel creatures. His creativity draws the reader into a meticulously crafted world of scenic beauty, potent magic, and supernatural abilities where friendship is the greatest power of them all.
