More Than a Vision: A Plan for America’s Future

"If you stay in bounds you have a chance at the green, if you go out of bounds you are penalized."

From his vantage point as a barber working with clientele from all walks of life, the author of this ambitious plan believes that at the root of America’s illness is a lack of incentive to play by the rules. The older generations want to enact standards of ethical and moral behavior, while the younger citizens see a lack of opportunity or possibility in front of them. The author’s thought-provoking proposal is to reinvent the concept of social security, giving children $5,000 at birth, invested and out of reach until they reach the age of thirty, at which point it should be valued at nearly a quarter million dollars. The trade-off is that the money is only available to those who have a clean criminal record, participate in democracy, and are willing to make the same investment in the generations that will follow them.

The text of this plan makes it clear that this idea was born democratically, out of just observation of the world and the recognition of a problem that was not being addressed. The humble beginnings of barbershop discussion allowed it to grow and blossom into an entire book, pitched and proposed to powerful politicians, athletes, and celebrities in the hopes of getting this dream off the ground. The foundation now exists, and the author hopes that his commonsense approach to vague, prevalent societal ills will catch on, using this book as a means to spread this philosophy to those who have the capital and the resources to make it a reality. Readers who feel like the news keeps getting worse and feel helpless to enact change will draw inspiration from the author’s vision and hopefully find a light on the horizon to aspire toward. Fini has penned a unique work that offers an out-of-the-box approach to improving society.
