Queen Bee's Alphabet Cookbook: A Nutrition Guide for Families
by Mariah Ecker, RD and Teri Ecker
Archway Publishing

"Now you know your alphabet and foods that you can cook. We have fun while learning with our healthy cookbook!"

This kid-friendly cookbook is filled with more than forty healthy recipes the whole family is sure to enjoy. The book starts with a fun A-Z alphabet association with foods and where the fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy products come from that will be used in the recipes. The recipes have specific directions on what kids can do to contribute and what parents should assist with.

The authors intentionally designed this cookbook with kids in mind. By including a section on learning nutrition with a balanced diet, children are able to clearly see what a healthy plate looks like with various options on how to create it. Before jumping into the recipes, the Eckers are careful to remind their young audience that safety is first in the kitchen and provide a list of ways to stay safe while cooking delicious meals for the family. They also draw the kids in with beautifully bright and colorful pictures of foods they’ll love.

The Eckers have done an amazing job of ensuring parents have all the tips and resources in this cookbook for creating meals with their children. They inspire parents to lead by example when it comes to eating and preparing healthy, balanced meals. With age-specific activities for little chefs, parents can easily adapt their recipes, making it easier to allow children to help and take ownership of their part in the preparation. Finally, the authors acknowledge that encouraging children to try new foods is not an easy task. To help with this, the Eckers helpfully explain how to grow lifelong healthy eaters. In short, this valuable cookbook really has it all.
