Science, Religion, Politics, and Cards

"On the screen there appeared a creature that looked like a mixture of aardvark and human, speaking on the screen while sitting on a throne."

Blair's book is an interesting look at the world through a different lens. Calling it different from many books is an understatement. This book is about bizarre phenomena, but that's not even half of it. The themes explore science, religion, and politics—three popular topics. But Blair adds a touch of mysticism to each approach and thought. The book features concepts such as Tarot decks that are inspired by radioactive elements. Then there are personal stories about how the author has overcome challenges, while also sharing stories about a fatal military training exercise that happened in the early 1950s. The part that stands out the most is the 1970 Public Access TV Nightmare. Basically, it's about what happens when an alien monster takes over your TV and gives a transmission that questions everything about humanity.

This is a thought-provoking book, especially for its ponderings about the First Amendment and politics in general. Also helpful and fun is the list of TV shows and movies for readers to watch, including The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Once Upon a Time in the West, and Invasion of the Body Snatchers. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. Each movie and TV show is related to the book in some way. Overall, Blair's writing is analytical to the end. The ideas are kept in a tight and concise grip. Blair knows what he is doing and where he is going with his thoughts and knowledge. This is definitely a one-of-a-kind read.
