"Never be afraid to stand for what you believe in, even if you stand alone."

The author has been fighting a herculean struggle for more than five years as he is pursuing those who allegedly stole his family fortune. The twist to this story is the purported involvement of his older sister and brother, his brother-in-law, and the law firm that acts as house counsel for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). Max and Joyce Eliason had extensive real estate and oil holdings and desired to bequeath them to their children. A trust had been established to divide the Eliason estate among their three children, but amendments to these agreements put together by a shady lawyer led to Eliason and his children being disinherited. After Joyce Eliason's death, the author has been investigating the convoluted schemes orchestrated by family and others, only to be threatened and thwarted by law enforcement and the courts.

The intrigue and turmoil are both conveyed in a thoroughly detailed manner in this real-life legal thriller. The aggrieved party tells their side of the story convincingly through text messages and legal documents, along with notable quotes and applicable definitions. This narrative doesn't rely solely on legal jargon to be persuasive, but also provides a backstory of the close relationship between Max and Joyce Eliason and their youngest child. The poignancy of the tale lies in the relationships broken by naked greed, the corruption of various levels of the judiciary, and the lone struggle of one man to reclaim what was stolen. This is a legal and true crime "David vs. Goliath" story, comparable to Erin Brockovich and A Civil Action, that deserves to be read.
