Author Trapp offers predictions, probabilities, and propositions regarding neo-evangelicalism, always focusing on the history and practice of Christianity. He grounds his assertions in the text and context of the Holy Bible, which he has diligently studied over many years. Central to his thesis is the gradual rejection by scientists at many levels of the Darwinian theory of evolution, which holds that the earth as we know it came about through a series of evolutionary stages. Modern thinking, such as cosmology, physics, and astronomy, emphasizes intelligent design, which aligns with the biblical view of theism, which holds that God created and sustains the universe.
Trapp recalls early experiences that solidified his personal faith in God, including survival of a difficult birth and, later, an attack by Russian soldiers in 1945, and several visions or visitations by the Almighty. Delving into biblical text, he notes that God has a human appearance as evidenced by his Son Jesus, and uses his power to erase and forgive inherent, inevitable human failures. Trapp writes of five creations, the first of which was destroyed purposely by the fallen angel Satan, who still turns human thought to evil-doing, and whose influences must be opposed by giving oneself over to the protection of Jesus Christ. Trapp's book shares both the Bible's familiar stories of the faith of Moses and Noah, the excruciating sacrifice made by Jesus Christ, and the contacts and conflicts among burgeoning sects, as God's word spread from Africa to global awareness. Human, recorded history is central to Trapp's presentation. He makes the credible assertion that evangelical rites and customs are not a recent phenomenon, but can be traced to the earliest development of Christian denominations. Such movements as Pentecostalism and the charismatic movement now offer "a Restoration of the faith and life of the original Church founded by Jesus Christ Himself."
Trapp, born in Germany in 1926 and subject to the horrors of Nazi domination, immigrated to Canada, where he has built his circle of conviction after pursuing theological studies. He attained a BA in Bible research and was later ordained by the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, serving as a minister for fifty years and receiving a distinguished Diamond Jubilee Medal for community service, issued by Queen Elizabeth II. He has written previous works expressing his beliefs, underpinned by extraordinary research endeavors powerfully revealed in this latest volume. With his erudition plainly set forth, he yet avers his reliance on "the Bible, True Science, True History, and Common Sense." His purpose is and always has been to offer proofs of biblical happenings for a modern readership, utilizing his knowledge of language and biblical terminologies and history, seen in historical context and made believable for his audience. His sage advice, "Repent of your sins, accept Him as your personal Saviour and Lord, and follow His teaching," will doubtless offer a focus for group discussion among those of similar faith, and an inner guide for individual seekers across a wide spectrum. Readers of inspirational nonfiction will want to add this book to their personal libraries.
