The Sea of Glass
by Roger Akerley
Lettra Press

"Now let’s understand God, our spiritual mind, and the glorifying power of this wisdom."

Writer Akerley has constructed a fascinating collocation of spiritual guidance based on the Holy Bible and supporting the thesis that God has given humankind the ability to think and understand, inviting a fresh perspective. The Bible is explored both chapter by chapter and happening by happening. From the outset, Akerley asserts that the six days of creation set forth in Genesis are actually the six-thousand-year history of mankind, presaging an end time soon to come. In preparation for this, he urges readers to use their God-endowed spirits and minds to accept that to worship Jesus as a man is fundamentally flawed.

Churches teach scripture “in physical terms,” whereas the spiritual intelligence that God has endowed must lead thoughtful seekers to reject the falsehood of organized religion, worship the Almighty God, and “live in the Kingdom of Intelligence.” The life of Jesus, as examined by Akerley, powerfully conveys the use of common sense to direct one’s actions and beliefs. Organized religions falsely teach that their leaders know right from wrong, but in truth, only God is the judge. To think and act otherwise is to fall into the trap of false prophecy.

Akerley, raised as a Catholic, has devoted his life to reading the Holy Bible, basing this extensive investigation around the revelations that his study evinced. Readers will initially find his assertions complex because they are rarely stated with such power and proof, but as the text widens to include not only scripture but simple, human-scale examples cited, they will doubtless be impressed by the innate logic he imparts. Akerley’s call to understand God as a spiritual being, not a physical entity, is one that may alter the thinking of many readers and should be considered as a subject for earnest sharing among thoughtful groups, as well as for intense individual contemplation.
