Welcome to the Light: A Trumpet Of Truth
by Karl Krahn
PageTurner Press and Media

"God gave His Son to die on the cross so your God can live inside you. It’s really very simple. It’s one on one."

Lively poems express author Krahn's sincere belief that anyone can access God/Jesus within, confuting with doctrines common in certain Christian churches in this era. Krahn's poetry is well suited to his basic premises, such as this exhortation to perform good deeds: "To help the poor and those that need / will bring you much, and more. / Your helping will insure a place, / Inside of Heaven's door."

The devil, Krahn asserts, is found in the concept of "luck" since God's love comes not by luck but by constant striving. Individuals must fight doubt and fear with love and prayer. It is not by waiting for Judgment Day that Christians will achieve their goal but by daily outreach, impelled by Jesus who, once one is converted, will begin to live in one's heart. In the poem, "Chancy," Krahn challenges: "If your soul was in your palm, / beneath the skin, / would you worry where to put it, / when you sin?" In "Christian Harvest," he compares daily life to a painting that will be displayed on Judgment Day.

Krahn's book opens with a "Poet's Bio," recalling the inner struggle with religious truth that impelled him to "stop living." But not long after, he had an overwhelming urge to start writing, which resulted in this volume of works that offer practical guidance for those who, like himself, experience serious doubts. Since some of those doubts can be provoked by church teaching itself, Krahn, using both humor and hard-hitting exhortation, has created a different path, one that he envisions as biblically based and, most importantly, entirely necessary for those seeking ultimate salvation. His gift for poetry with lively rhythm and rhyme is apparent. One senses that writing is and should be his new focus. Krahn's readers will hope for further offerings from this new, encouraging source.
