Barron’s picture book talks about a subject many pet lovers have wondered about: at the end of life, will people be reunited with the pets they have loved who passed on before them? In Barron’s book, the pets are waiting for their providers and greet them with warmth and affection. The illustrations in the book are simple but convey the story well. Barron uses rhyming verses to tell her story, utilizing the title phrase almost as a chorus to keep the story coming back to its main theme. Also, repetition is a very good tool for helping young readers. Overall, the story itself is sweet and comforting. The book can be nice for young children who have lost a pet and heartwarming for any pet owner.
