When the planet Ganahar receives the message from a spy ship from the technologically advanced, benevolent, and mysterious Om System, it is immediately evident that the Ganahar System is in trouble. Om has discovered that the fierce Kundabuffer Empire is planning to invade and exploit the Ganahar System. These warmongers of the universe are known for conquering other systems and forcing survivors into their armies. Ganahar is ill-prepared for war, and none of its allies has the fire-power to defeat such an enemy. It is quickly understood by all that only Om has the tools necessary to save the Ganahar System, but Om’s twenty-eight-thousand-year policy of nonintervention may prove an obstacle. However, Om’s spiritual connection to the Ganahar System, coupled with an ancient prophecy, proves to be the deciding factor in moving forward with a complete defense of Ganahar led by the elite fighters of Om.

In this first book of the series, the author establishes the historical and political history of the various planetary systems found within the universe. It is also a book geared more for adults than younger readers due to some sexually explicit material. One of the most interesting aspects of the novel is the spiritual connections between characters. Highly evolved humanoids spend much time in “mind-over-matter” meditation, and at times may feel an instant connection with another. Artificial Intelligence is intuitive and self-aware in an intriguing use of characterization. This age-old story of good vs. evil is rendered new and unique through its setting—an advanced universe with a plethora of planets and creatures where “quantum gates serve as portals and links between two points in space-time,” making instantaneous travel from one system to another possible.
