According to the author, America and other nations have a single problem. Graham claims it is a sin problem related to rebellion against God's word, commandments, and laws. Beginning from that viewpoint, the author has written eight chapters that define terms and explain what the Christian world believes to be true: that there is a war between God, the creator of this earth, and one of his rebellious angels, called Satan or Lucifer.
War began in the Garden of Eden with the main tenet that God gave humanity the right to rule over the earth. Satan connived to steal that right and corrupt humans into serving his evil desires, including the murder of fellow men and women. Unlike American soldiers in Iraq, Christians must resist the enemy with biblical promises and prayer rather than weapons. Repentance is the best resistance and brings mercy and forgiveness. Graham quotes numerous Bible verses to support her points, such as Ephesians 6:12: "We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world..."
Although the book's message would be enhanced by some additional editing, the author's passion for her subject comes shining through. Graham focuses a lot on the War on Terror, the war in Iraq, and weapons of mass destruction—key issues in the first decade of the twenty-first century. However, the overall thrust of the book remains timeless. The author sees her role as that of a prophet and attributes her words of wisdom directly to the Holy Spirit. She faithfully explains the meaning of the biblical texts she references while listing the relevant verses Christians can use to resist deception and overcome evil.
