The world is changing, and every species on Earth feels the shift. None feel it as strongly as the wolf, Chuppa. One moment he is surviving in the wilderness with his mate and their family; the next moment he's fighting for an entirely different cause. A strange power has awakened in Chuppa, giving him control over the Earth's elements. This power throws Chuppa into conflict against others of his kind and against humanity. A war is coming. When the battle begins in earnest, Chuppa must decide whether to let destiny guide him or to forge his own path.
Each chapter follows the inner growth and struggles of Chuppa and his family. Chuppa's sudden acquisition of power finds him in the middle of a shifting political agenda among other wolf clans. Other wolves with similar powers gather forces against humans. Instead, dissenting opinions and conflicting goals turn the wolves against each other. The events of Blizzard Winds span two generations and are described from the unique perspective of the wolves. Author Paul Koch uses an unorthodox manner of writing that utilizes large paragraphs and a fluid present/past tense. At best, the style adds a sense of urgency and uncertainty to the story. Sometimes, it's a distraction. Beyond the magical tale of a group of wolves, this is a story about family, religion, and fate. A world full of characters and lore unfolds at the feet of one wolf looking for his place in the world.
