"They's more ghosts in this town than probably any place on earth."
It's Mardi Gras time in New Orleans, when spirits are high and demons are on the loose. Lives strangely intersect when family curses, a little bit of voodoo, and murder cross paths. Wyatt Thomas, a former attorney turned French Quarter sleuth, is asked to investigate the family heritage of one of the richest men in New Orleans. Nasty rumors are being spread and it's up to Thomas to find the real truth. Falling for his client's beautiful, free-spirited daughter complicates matters. With the help of a voodoo mambo, he'll discover secrets that will shake the family to its core. If that's not enough, the New Orleans Police Department and U.S. Marshalls are on the hunt for a cold blooded mob assassin, Jacque Leguerre, who escaped custody. Leguerre has no problem killing tourists for their clothes and cash. It all culminates with an event that ties the characters together and will leave readers breathless.
Wilder has created an eclectic cast of characters befitting the city of New Orleans. His quick, snappy dialogue matches perfectly against a plot filled with twists and turns. Wilder's novel evokes the spirit of the city right down to the main characters. A cast of fully developed characters, complete with their own personal demons, adds a dose of realism to life in this city. With plenty of references to the city's favorite tourist haunts and local hole in the wall joints, readers will want to fix a plate of gumbo and guzzle a few Dixie brews as they read this page turner.
