The Comical Macker

"I was at a function one time when a guy was introduced to me and said 'I don't believe we've met before' while offering a hand shake.... I offered my hand in return and quipped 'well, I do believe we haven't me before'...."

A joke book of slapstick, pun happy humor, The Comical Macker is a succession of comedy bits ending with a one liner reminiscent of old-time stand-up. In fact, one can almost hear the drum roll cymbal crash echoing at the end of each joke. This book would be great to have around to pick up here and there for a quick laugh and then move on about the day.

While the collection of jokes is arranged cleverly, that is to say categorically by style such as story, double entendre, stream of consciousness etc., the jokes themselves have little differentiation between styles or structure. The jokes vary mostly by length from a couple lines to a couple of paragraphs. Primarily beginning with something on par with "I once knew a guy..." the jokes often end with a play on words such as having "a relative named Baggage who takes bags and suitcases etc. off airplanes!" Because the jokes are delivered in similar manner, this book would be best read in small doses.

The writing clearly contains enthusiasm and a love of comedy, however, tends to lean more towards corny than dry wit and so will not be for everyone. Rather than being read straight off the page, the jokes might be better suited on stage with a charismatic comedian at the microphone, where they would soar over clinking cocktails at a classy night lounge.
