In a book following the author’s 40 days of journaling her confessions, the text revolves around Gerali baring her soul through reporting about a variety of her issues, from childhood to adulthood. It also includes explorations of others’ words of wisdom. The book consists of a collection of diverse material: the author’s daily confession and an affirmation, a one-sentence journal entry for the day, the reader’s confessions and journaling exercises, Gerali’s meditation, and a chance for the reader to complete an affirmation about needed action steps. She also relates an 11-step guide for how to open the self through ways such as silence, meditation, affirmations, reading and writing, and expressing gratitude. Some of the best topics include “From Illness to Wellness,” “From Suffering to Bliss,” and “From Arrogance to Grace.” Likewise, the appendix regarding her previous book is valuable.
Through this work, the author explores the relationship of the human to the divine and the divine human via the exploration of the self, with all of its warts and beauty. It reveals insights through Gerali’s own path of life, which also includes her work as a spiritual teacher and intuitive healer. From her fundamentalist beginnings to her work in metaphysics, it is an interesting journey. For many, relating to the author’s issues and ways she worked through them could be helpful guidance in acceptance of one’s traumas and struggles. Also, the workbook-type focus on the reader’s confessions and ways to heal offers an insight into higher consciousness. The book is well-written and is an easy read. It might prove to be especially useful for those choosing to work only one day at a time through the author’s confessions and healings as well as their own.
