"As she passed by the utility room, a thick arm reached around her neck, jerking her backward and off the floor."

Women are disappearing off the streets of Temple, Texas with seemingly no common thread or pattern to tie them together. Without ransom notes or any other demands, the Temple Police Department's investigation, led by Detective Matt Brady, is slow to make progress. But with each day the trail goes colder and the threat of another abduction looms large over the small town. With the sting of disgrace from a botched kidnapping negotiation haunting him, Brady is desperate to do whatever it takes to crack the case. Meanwhile, the criminals in question are thorough in their methods and in covering their trail. As time goes on and the threats start hitting closer and closer to home, Brady has to solve the mystery before the opportunity, and the abducted women, slip through his fingers forever.

With a personal history both with the city of Temple and the practices and procedures of law enforcement, this book is strengthened by the authenticity of the character's behavior and decisions. Full of tension and suspense, this novel is fictional enough to be entertaining while realistic enough to be emotionally charged and terrifying throughout. Complete with romance, action, and a little bit of comedy, this book tells a story that would be right at home as a television series. Readers are with Detective Brady almost the entire time, through his ups and downs, and even though we get a sneak peek at what lies at the end of his journey, each chapter is so fraught with danger that the audience will need to be sure they know what happens next. Fans of crime dramas, suspense, and strong characters should check out this book.
