book review by P. Hooper
"Believe me when I say you need to get into the word and let the word sink into your spirit so that you can feel it, love it, live it, and let the word become all of you!"
After living a life that was in ruins and filled with drama, Cook realizes there is more to life than partying and working. She says that she lived a life of bondage until she decided to accept Jesus into her life and claim Him as her Savior. "Jesus has restored my life," Cook acknowledges, and she wishes to share her joy and wisdom with others, which is the goal of this book. She claims God gave her the gift of writing so that she could share her testimony of Jesus with others.
Cook believes that the devil wants to keep people from having a relationship with Jesus, thus stealing their potential for joy. If people will turn their lives to God and "put the word of God our father and his precious promises to work in (their) lives" they will wake up winners rather than losers. A beautiful change will take place in people's lives if they will only turn to Jesus.
Interspersed throughout the book are scriptures that support Cook's points. Cook also adds some chapters that read like a prayer or a mantra, filled with proclamations such as "I never panic or fear because I dare to believe." She asserts that her book contains all the keys to attaining freedom from problems such as obesity, addiction and depression.
This book reads like a motivational speech. Filled with encouraging pep talk and promises of freedom and prosperity, it is an easy read. She lovingly reminds the reader of his amazing worth and potential in a down-to-earth and frank tone.
