Dialogues with God
by Janel Daguisan
Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.

"Some blessings seem to be a curse at first glance until God opens up our eyes to His work in the midst of the storms."

The main thesis of Daguisan’s narrative is that if the God of the Bible spoke with and to people back during the time of the Old and New Testaments, there should be no plausible reason why that same all-powerful and loving God would not continue to engage in dialogue with certain people (believers) in the present day and age. And throughout this book, the author, an electronic and bio-medical engineer of Haitian descent, gives example after example of God intervening in his life, often in “mysterious ways” and in instances which might seem trivial or even not ideal at first, only to be proven to have been for the greater good in hindsight. His intervention is, in fact, one of the ways that God does indeed speak to those who are open to listening. “How involved is God in our affairs?” Daguisan writes. “Some people think that God is not interested in the specifics of our daily lives. I profoundly disagree.”

Fans of Christian nonfiction will surely enjoy Daguisan’s book with its rich anecdotal narrative of how and why the author has experienced God’s direct touch as seen through his journey from his native Haiti, his meeting and falling in love with his wife, their family in Georgia, and his work as a biomedical engineer. The reader will doubtless glean from these pages direct testimony from a man of God who earnestly and humbly shares the varied experiences during his lifetime in which God himself has revealed to him his plan and set the author forth on a journey lush with religious experience.
