David Pitt has produced a Christian workbook using artful designs that create interactive content. Pitt supplements written Bible passages with provocative questions, word flows, or fill-in-the-blank activities. Colors do more than lead the eye; they represent aspects of Christian experience as explained in the introduction.
Question-style pages can be used either for personal study or to lead Bible classes. Each thought-provoking question is expanded for discussion, and may include additional questions or steps. For example, the "What time is it in your life?" page includes action-prompting questions, such as "Are you moving forward?" Another question page "What is your vision—from Now?" explains what visions are and how dreams (those that get you up early…that don’t go away) can provide guidance for your future. The question page that explains this book title "Do You Want to Live?" lists ten steps that teach the path to follow when seeking a changed life.
Pitt has creatively designed flow diagrams. A series of heart flows illustrates that "A journey always takes us from Somewhere to Someplace." Another series flows from left to right in short, rhymed phrases: from Me to We; from Hardship to Stewardship; from Shake Me to Never Forsake Me. The author also makes extensive use of alliteration to explain related concepts, along with relevant Bible verses. One such sequence is: Meditate+Magnify+Meet+Mingle=Meek=Mercy=Miracles.
One goal of this workbook is to assist the learner to create a personal record of his/her study of the Bible and growth in God. This is done by filling in the blanks on the book’s center pages, then sharing the completed pages with others. Reluctant readers may find it easy to learn using this visual workbook. All students would likely benefit by following the exercises within a study class.
