Don't Even Smile:
The Other Side Of Sexual Harassment by Dr. Geoffrey Mount Varner Lulu
book review by Judee L. Spargur
"Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are,
it may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things seem worst that
You must not quite"
It is always soul soothing to find words of comfort when you need them. This book by Dr. Varner does just that. It gives heart felt advice on a very difficult subject. What would you doif you were accused of sexual harassment? How does it affect your life and those you love?
In his early forties, working in a hospital emergency department, the author found answers to these questions. Being tossed around by a hurricane might have been easier to live through than the assault on his character. The time and money lost from defending yourself against an unwarranted suite is devastating. "Your life will never be the same. There are a few important steps to take, when you are informed of the complaint. 1. Don't talk to anyone at work. 2. Don't act guilty. 3. Be vigilant concerning harm others may cause you. 4. Prepare yourself for battle. 5. Tell your spouse. 6. Start saving and shielding your money. 7. File a counterclaim."
The good and the bad moments of life fall on us all. As in nature, so it is in our world—only the strong survive. Dr. Varner shares many nuggets of wisdom with the reader. His keen intelligence and life experiences give real help to those going down this rough road of life. There is no doubt Dr. Varner is a man of strong faith; his knowledge of Gods' love and teachings are everywhere in this book. Although the sexual harassment lawsuit was found not to be true and completely without merit, it stole the smile from a man and made him say, "don't even smile."
