"The position of mankind accepting responsibility for their own destiny has become more of a valid base for believing than a hypothetical Supreme Being which was an accumulation of superstitious, wishful, fearful, needy and man-made ideas that formed a nebulous-like array of worship, sacrifice and unsure devotion."

This 256-page book revolves around the history of religions (but neglecting indigenous and pagan beliefs) and the spirituality of consciousness of today. Chapters include the origin of belief, ways to believe, meaning of belief, human insecurities, and the formation of Deity and Divinity. The author also explores hypocrisy, the psychology of belief, praying and programming, and belief options. The title accurately describes the book as it explores outdated beliefs, beliefs vs. faith, and his personal views of religion as fantasy, hypocrisy, biased, and a "hocus pocus indoctrination of fear and fantasy." The first three-quarters of the book focuses on the problems of religion and believers, while the last quarter examines ways to open to new possibilities in spirituality, which is to focus on consciousness building.

The main positive of the book is the thoughtful process the author has used in examining the topic of religion. He explores a belief system that is dying but that can be changed into the positiveness of self examination and self determination. The focus on a new type of spirituality (which really has been evolving since time began), allows the reader to utilize the best of spiritual practices.

What is missing is research on the topic as he dissects religion without examining it as a process in life instead of an either/or philosophy and neglects information that leads to a system which, as integral studies examines, transcends and includes. The book contains no biography or bibliography to supports his beliefs. However, it is a fascinating, engaging, possibly controversial read, for those willing to delve into his beliefs and travel this road of spirituality.
