God's Prayers

"Sometime, from a distance of many days,
Our children will look on us
From greater heights...
And we will be far from them."

The message of this book is that God loves the human race and wants humans to love Him. This is told in a series of poems that are meditations, accompanied by photography that is peaceful and spiritual. The poetry blends a contemplative tone of communication between God and man as they reach out to each other. This is told through various events ranging from the Nativity, temptation, wandering in the wilderness, the Ten Commandments, to marriage and others. The photography is of an image that resembles the tone of the poem, whether of a statue, a church, or an element of nature such as a mountain, flower, or beautiful sunset. The poetry is for those quiet moments when a reader is seeking a quiet place to get away from the distracting hustle and bustle.

The author, who is also the photographer, has captured beautiful images. For some of the text, it is not clear what Bible passage the author is referencing. It would have been helpful if he had listed the passage, so the readers would be able to compare his poem to specific verses and form their own interpretation. Other texts are very clear and the meaning is unmistakable. However, if it is the nature of most poetry that it must be read several times to get the full meaning, it will be up to the reader to form their own understanding and interpretation. Regardless, this free-verse collection will form a meditative mood for spiritual thought.
