H2Glo: A Bailey Quinn Environmental Misadventure

"That's me. Bailey Angelique Quinn. I’m an environmental lawyer by trade. I'm 29 going on 30 and still waiting for the right guy to come along."

Bailey Quinn has become the director of The Fink Environmental Foundation after the death of its founder, Ruth Fink. This e-book is an interesting mixture of romantic comedy and murder mystery. The author makes everything work, even as scenes switch among dinner time flirting, kidnapping, and a girls' night in.

H2Glo is a type of bottled water. Loaded with toxins, it is a brand that first the philanthropist Ruth Fink, and then her protégée Bailey, try to have banned. Spinning in and around the Foundation during the busy, traumatic time immediately following Ruth's death, Bailey must deal with the legal issues concerning H2Glo, and the additional deaths of a former employee of The Fink Foundation and a colleague of hers, respectively. Additionally (and more pleasantly), the transition of power at the Foundation includes the installation of Morgan, Ruth's attractive, intelligent, and wealthy son, as chairman. Bailey's initial distrust of him floats away fairly quickly.

The book's transitions from criminal creepiness to high idealism happen fairly seamlessly. The well developed characters are distinct, so they are memorable. The author keeps the reader wanting more. Bailey Quinn is a welcome protagonist. She is logical, but not cynical, and romantic and social, but sensible. This book is highly recommended for e-book fanciers who like a light read that has a good plot.
