Ellen, Hattie, and Margaret are as different as sisters could be. They each have their own special gifts—powers of wisdom, war, and prophecy. They embark on a secret mission to Mount Mandara, along with a group of companions consisting of escorts, servants, a guide, and a religiouis man who might be a little crazy. Self-proclaimed Prime Director, Lord Daimon is trying to capture the land for his own, no matter the costs to the environment or the people. His plan seems to be working, until the sisters become involved. Together with the aid of friends and allies, they must use their gifts together to stop Lord Daimon from spreading his evil across the land. Will they be able to stop him in time? Or will they be too late?
The novella starts with a strong beginning and maintains a sturdy flow and presence throughout the story. Jenkins' three main characters are women who exhibit traits that young woman look up to. They are brave, intelligent, and powerful. The rest of the characters are just as interesting, eccentric, and developed. Jenkins expertly utilizes descriptions to paint a dramatic setting for his epic tale. The chapters are shorter, which enables the story to progress as a rapid pace. The amount of politics is unexpected, but it adds depth and dimension to the story. Many different levels of this novel transcend that of a general fantasy novel. This is a story that is suitable for all ages, as there is no profanity or inappropriate content. Jenkins weaves a powerful story that is easy to get lost within.
