"We must always choose to do good over evil. (Romans 12:21) and always seek to make others happy with God's love."
"Be a light wherever you go and shine, shine, shine" is a phrase that reflects the central theme that runs through the ten stories that comprise Kids on a Mission to Shine, a new title in the Kingdom Lifestyles for Children book series. Author Marilyn S. Smith has designed the book to help children and adults to understand the beauty and necessity of following God's teachings, and to invite others to do the same. While Smith's book seems to lean towards a religious affiliation, perhaps linked to Bible class teachings or a Sunday school curriculum, above all the collection sends a universal message about doing the right thing.
The meaningful stories cover a variety of topics including honesty, forgiveness, kindness, competition, and being mindful of our words. The narratives purposefully reflect real-life situations and temptations, which young individuals might encounter in their daily lives. Smith's writing is clear, concise, and relatable. While a younger child could reap the rewards of these tales through an adult reader, their value could equally be absorbed by an older youngster reading on their own. The author's choice of simple photographs depicting smiling children, and the affirming Bible quotes woven throughout this book provide an uplifting accompaniment to the text.
Smith's work shines as a book highlighting fundamental morals, family values, and important life lessons. It is the author's hope that in reading these stories, both adults and children will be positively influenced to fulfill their God given life's purpose and ultimately help to make the world a better place.
