Life Derailed: A Divorced Mom's Survival Guide
by Latachia Morrissette
Trafford Publishing

"To be single means many things such as: standing on itself, one item, a thing, person not joining with another. It seems basic and it should be. However, single followed by mother automatically turns into partner."

Written as a survival guide should be, this book offers quick chapters touching on the most important elements of various stages of divorce. Beginning with the realization that divorce is going to happen and progressing through to rebuilding your life and re-entering the dating scene, Morrissette adopts a comforting sisterly tone as she guides you through the process.

Rather than attempting to portray herself as the ultimate expert on the subject, offering universal answers that can satisfy all, Morrissette reveals from the start that she is speaking from her own personal experience. Her chapters are frequently only a few pages long, making it possible to gain some insight while locked in the closet during a panic moment. Much of the advice offered is relatively standard and generic, but its presentation makes it easily accessible for when it's most needed. It is unlikely all of the material will be needed all at once, but the book is designed to be picked up as the need is felt. Divorce is a process and Morrissette achieves her goal of walking through it carefully and deliberately.

More than just providing some helpful insights, Morrissette also provides some helpful worksheets at the end of the book. These worksheets are designed to help readers begin building a support system, rebuild self-confidence, and start down the road to a new life however unexpected that life might be.
