On March 18, 2020, the control tower of a secret base buried deep in the Appalachian Mountains reports viewing an unidentified object “moving at a fantastic speed.” Numerous objects are spotted on radar, and as the staff looks on, the main craft approaches, leaving three human women behind. Now, all pertinent factions of the government are scurrying to find out who these women are and, most importantly, who or what has left them. As investigations proceed, it is discovered that each woman had been reported missing, along with many others through the years, in the area of Cass, West Virginia. Even more strangely, none of the women had aged since the day of their disappearance, and all of the abductions had taken place on the same date. Now agents must scramble to figure out how the women’s abductions are related and what, if any, is their connection to Lucia, the “self-aware computer” recovered from the Roswell crash.
This sci-fi thriller is one that grabs readers from the beginning and maintains their attention throughout. With her well-written, engaging, and at times surprising plot, the author manages to create a nice blend of suspense and science fiction. The three main storylines entail the three women returned on March 18, 2020, and are the most involved with each of their family’s stories. These tales are filled with intrigue and heartbreak in the aftermath of their disappearance. The author deftly incorporates social issues of different times in American history through the various time periods of each woman’s disappearances, as well as issues that modern audiences find themselves facing. This is one of those novels that is hard to put down and will find readers burning the midnight oil to reach its conclusion.
