Elderly Mrs. Katz was troubled, and her 10 cats were concerned about her. Gumshoe was the first kitty to notice. Mrs. Katz lived alone with her beloved cats, and they were her family. And as a family does, they worried, for she had been looking out the big picture window for hours. The cats came up with a variety of problems she might be worried about. Jellyroll was always hungry, so perhaps Mrs. Katz needed food. Powderpuff, who knew herself to be beautiful, felt she was just admiring her reflection in the glass. Gumshoe thought it was just the weather. Jitterbug worried the most about it because he was a worrier, while Dizzy defended her as he’d known her the longest. When Mrs. Katz pulled out some yarn and started knitting, they were excited to play, yet they could see there was a mystery afoot. So what was Mrs. Katz up to?
A colorful book, both in its story and its excellent art, the author’s tale is a fun-filled cat romp through a mystery that the cats try to solve. Besides the antics of the various cats and their different personalities, the book adds humor along with allowing the reader to try to solve the puzzle of what is puzzling Mrs. Katz. It reveals the importance of pets and how loving and caring they are, for these cats are sweet, fun, intelligent, and quirky. And in the solving of the mystery, the book also relates the importance of nature and honoring nature, especially as shown within the beauty of the cold of winter. Finally, it also explores the theme of honoring one's own heart.
