My Life's Labyrinth
by Iris M. Ford
Trafford Publishing

"...we cannot successfully traverse our Life's Labyrinth without Christ's power."

This book is short and to the point with a refreshing absence of fluff. It says a lot without being "preachy" and gives the reader much food for thought. It compares life to a labyrinth; and using examples from her own life, author Ford encourages us to have Christ at the center of our lives, our own personal labyrinth.

Ford is a retired Presbyterian minister from Canada, and she writes about the difficulties of sharing Christ and walking with Him daily in the increasingly secular age in which we live. She emphatically asserts that there is no way that we can successfully make it through life without Him leading and guiding us through each day. Without Him at the center of all that we do, we are without hope. When your center is filled with the presence and love of God, it cannot help but spill over and touch others.

The author expresses her concerns about all that is happening in the world today, such as instantaneous communication through technology, and conversely, a great lack of spiritual communication between individuals and the corporate church. She is so good at reminding us that Jesus alone knows what is around the next corner waiting for each one of us, and that is precisely why we need Him so much.

She encourages us to take time from our busy schedules to pray and meditate and seek God's guidance. She also encourages us to take time to reach out to others who may be discouraged or in pain physically or emotionally. She reminds us that Jesus is the Vine and we are the branches. As we stay connected to Him, He is able to live His life through us and reach out to a broken world.

To end with the author's own words: "The true centre of every Life's Labyrinth is Jesus Himself. In Jesus we fill up: He offers us life, He offers us eternity. He is our centre!"
