"Then Jamber said, "Let's go for a ride. Not in a car, on my pet butterfly."
This delightful picture book is about a little boy, Jaxson, who meets a gnome during his playtime outside. The gnome, Jamber, is in need of a best friend. He lives in a mushroom, and he takes the little boy on a tour of his home. They ride on the gnome's pet butterfly and do many other fun things as well. In the evening, when Jaxson's parents are tucking him in his bed, he has a nice story to tell to them, and they marvel at his imagination.
The author, a busy mom of six children, created this picture book for her kids and about them. The book has a glossy, soft-cover, which is pleasing to the eye. The text is written in rhyme, which makes it easy for parents to read aloud to their children. Full-color pictures accompany the text, featuring a little boy and a friendly gnome. The pictures, which appear to be done in markers and crayons are somewhat lacking in quality, but the text and the layout of the book makes up for that. The rhyme is clever, gets right to the point and flows well, which works for small children who tend to have shorter attention spans.
A perfect book for little children who are just starting to learn to read, or even older children who want to hear a nice good-night story.
