Nibiru Rising: Planet X
by Ken Womelsdorf
Trafford Publishing

"The date is 9577 BC. That's when I believe the Earth came in close conjunction with Nibiru and left indelible evidence of the event."

Taking an approach that seems part Dan Brown with his high-action detective-like searches through ancient signs and symbols and part Arthur C. Clarke with a looming planet-sized catastrophe on the horizon, Womelsdorf's novel builds on legends of the past to present a story of the future.

Ian and Sadie are two professors widely considered by the academic community to have lost their minds in crazy theories of an impending planetary collision between Earth and the mysterious invisible planet Nibiru mentioned in ancient Sumerian texts. It is their task to convince the governments of the world this planet exists and that action must be taken immediately if life on Earth is to survive. To acquire the proof they need, as well as the information required to head off the disaster, they must take a harrowing journey across continents and discover nothing less than the legendary Holy Grail.

Filled with loosely connected factoids and carefully calculated dates, the story is delivered with a highly academic flair. While some important scientific realities are either glossed over or simply ignored, the book will appeal to those interested in learning more about the current theories and thoughts on this subject within a fictional framework. The story would have benefited from an additional revision and perhaps additional length to provide adequate coverage of the actual celestial event. As in real life, some loose ends are never fully resolved leaving the reader wondering and opening up the possibility for greater expansion in a follow-up novel at some point in the future.
