"The human brain is similar to a computer system in the sense that it can be “programmed” to think in a certain way."

Have you ever felt that you wanted to have more control over your life, to conquer that which holds you back? This is what led the author to write this short guide explaining how he gained just that. In the grip of drug addiction, Franza developed techniques that allow him to maintain the hard-earned sobriety he gained. In each beginning chapter, Franza addresses an issue or situation which he views as problematic to him personally or to humanity. Subsequent chapters lay out fifteen techniques the author uses to improve his life, the benefits of following those techniques, and the pitfalls which may occur. Bonus chapters of suggestions and philosophical quotes of interest follow. Finally, the author reveals himself to his audience in the final chapters of biographical information and well-wishes for his readers.

The author writes with a deep sincerity that is evident on each page. As a former addict, the writer’s belief in his techniques for a better life centers on his ability to remain free of the hold drugs had on him. Not a how-to of specifics on how one might implement these techniques into one’s life, the book doesn’t go into step-by-step analysis of the process. It does, however, offer one person’s very personal approach to the fifteen techniques he incorporates into his everyday life, which have allowed him to live purposefully. It also is an interesting look into the thoughts of one who has overcome and wishes to share his process. One feels the urgency with which the author approaches his subject and is left feeling as if a true understanding of the author’s purpose has been genuinely bestowed.
