State of Mine

"The central character, Joshua Stillwater, is plagued by his role of executioner, not only of a twelve-year old boy but of an entire State. What type of government can make such demands.?"

With this brief question, the reader is introduced to just such a government; frighteningly, as close to home as possible, residing in Washington, D.C. in the United States of America. Lest the reader fear that State of Mine is some contrived conspiracy theory in fiction format, rest assured that the novel is a perfectly rational result of taking key events of the past fifty years and following them to their logical conclusions. M. A. Farrell does this with an experienced eye and a mind that is not intimidated by popular opinion and illogical theories. Not only does the author clearly demonstrate how those opinions and theories succeeded in destroying the Republic of the United States but he also shows how using the original methods that made America great, are still viable and fundamental to restoring our stricken nation. To put so much truth and so many complex issues into a clear and fascinating story takes a rare talent. Brave New World, 1984, and Atlas Shrugged come to mind, placing Farrell into some heady company. The bureaucracies and excesses committed by those elected to serve the people are taken from today's headlines. State of Mine rips the mask off those who create massive problems and then justify grabbing absolute power to solve those problems. Reminiscent of Nazi Germany and Communist Russia, soon the Federal government grabs enough power to demand honorable men to track down dissenters and kill those that would get in their way, even twelve-year old boys.
