The Symmetry of Gnosis: The Universe Explained?

book review by Carol Anderson, D.Min., ACSW, LMSW
"It will not be an easy book to understand, containing as it does information on two highly specialized subjects that are almost totally mutually exclusive: supersymmetrical string theory—which is modern theoretical physics' attempt to unify the otherwise incompatible theories of relativity and quantum mechanics—and qabala, an ancient Hebrew esoteric belief."
The Symmetry of Gnosis is a work that takes us through numerous concepts—relativity, physics, quantum theory and string theory, the Qabala, the tarot, space-time continuum, DNA, cosmology, the occult, dark matter, mathematics, DNA, UFOs, reincarnation, miracles, Atlantis, the Greys (other-worldly beings), psychology, and philosophy. The premise is that this material offers mathematical proof for the existence of God through examining these issues with a focus on Hebrew Qabala and supersymmetrical string theory. The author explores the "ten or twenty-six dimensions" of the universe based on string theory and relates this to the Tree of Life with its ten sephira. The first three chapters give a basic introduction of quantum theory, Qabala, and the Tarot; the next three chapters attempt to explain the relationship of these three; and the final four chapters explore and reexamine historical myths.
The beginning two-thirds of the book attempts to focus on scientific study and religious scholarship while the last chapters focus more on the author's beliefs. As the above quote indicates, this is a difficult book to understand, and lack of scholarship adds to this difficulty. While there is some interesting discussion on mystical thought, beliefs, and the Tree of Life, the discussion of the overall premise regarding string theory and the Qabala becomes occasionally sidetracked by the sometimes tangential and grandiose beliefs that are expressed.
To gain the best understanding of this work, a glimpse of this writing is needed. He writes, "I believe that Armageddon threatened in 1999, during the Kosovo crisis. Due to my representations to God regarding Noah and Abraham, He withheld his judgment on the planet on 26/6/99, and didn't send the Holocaust. Instead, He related the material in this book to me." He also notes, "The author has seen video footage of an unidentified flying object filmed from a helicopter near the World Trade Centre sometime before the destruction of those buildings. The ship was clearly one of the Greys' crafts. This ability to bypass acceleration points to an alien technology, although many saucer-shaped flying craft have been registered at the U.S. Patent Office. This points to the undeniable conclusion that the Greys are backing the American Government and the New World Order." It's a sweeping view of the world for deep consideration.
