Take Back Your Life
by Tammy Moorehead
Trafford Publishing

"For over 20 years, I had studied nutrition and how to live a healthy life. ... I have researched and learned many things over the last 20 years. I am by no means an expert on any of the subject matter contained in this book."

If honesty is the best policy, Moorehead writes in this slim, 43-page volume that she is merely documenting research that has helped her to change her life with regard to goal setting, nutrition, and fitness. Occasionally she encourages readers to consult a health coach or personal trainer for more direct guidance. Take Back Your Life first focuses on what's preventing individuals from changing, then enters the realm of hormones, metabolis calorie counting (or not), reading nutritional labels and food shopping mistakes, and budget eatingbut doing so in a healthy way. Moorehead closes with the benefits of fitness and types of exercise, and squashes any regimen myths. She does all of the above in a friendly way that every person, especially a stranger to healthy living, can feel comfortable with.

In spots, the book is inundated with capitalization, as well excessive quotes and exclamations. After a while, the effectiveness of all three is worn. This being said, Moorehead's offering is a beginner's guide–a good one–to returning to a healthy lifestyle. After that, if need be, seek a pro.
