Taking Charge Missy’s Way

"I’m a big girl. I can handle myself, and I can’t give you what you deserve, so it’s time I handle my life myself . . ."

Missy has been taught all her life that the only person she can count on is herself. But life has a funny way of guiding you along the way, pointing you in the exact direction you need, even if you don’t know it. A series of life-changing events falls into Missy’s life, from having to unexpectedly take in her younger half-brother, having children of her own, her best friend passing away, and eventually falling in love. How will Missy handle all of this? Will she be led astray by all the chaos, or will a guiding light show her to the path that she’s meant to take? Missy will have to learn to follow her heart and to take charge, her way.

This is a heart-warming story that will leave readers with a smile on their faces by the end. Missy is a charming character with a heart of gold who just wants the best for those that she cares about. Her growth from the beginning to end is very well orchestrated, with the plot moving along at a fairly decent pace. The book itself is a little on the short side, making you wish for more time with Missy, her family, and friends. The shortened length can also make the pacing feel a little rushed, but it still allows for enough time to usher Missy through the different phases of her life. A particular reader favorite could be the sweet Dr. Todd, who shows Missy what love can really be like with his sweet and charming nature.
