A tale of double murder and the two families affected by the crime, The Melody of Justice deals with revenge, obsession, justice, and love. In 1996, in the U.K., Robert Watson was convicted of the murders of the parents of Mariah, in large part on the basis of her eyewitness testimony, and sentenced to eighteen years in prison. Throughout the story, Robert proclaims his innocence in that he did not kill anyone but he was among three men who intended to commit a robbery which went horribly wrong. The reader finds out later that Robert was accompanied by Patrick Well, now the husband of Mariah.
By 2014, Mariah and Patrick Well are married and fabulously wealthy as a result of their ownership of a factory, which reputedly makes the world's best chocolate. Christine Watson, the daughter of Robert, under the name of Christine White, is working as Mariah's personal assistant with her goal of ruining Mariah and her family while destroying her wealth and stature in London society. Christine is convinced that Mariah has devastated her and her father's lives by falsely testifying at the trial. Though initially a good story, there are so many twists, turns, and unbelievable behavior by the characters that the suspension of disbelief somewhat suffers. Style and editing issues further complicate the matter, resulting in a difficult read.
