When evil beings threaten the land of Taramos, the Wizard Zane, along with an adventurous group of creatures, sets off to bring peace and harmony back to their territory. The titular Orange Blossom Fairy, Silvera, is part of this curious crew, which also includes a witch and the girl whose body Silvera once inhabited. From the beginning, Silvera is an outlier among the other fairies. She disagrees with their myriad rules, such as being required to take over a person’s body and to use her magic and tricks for harm rather than fun. And she cannot follow their rules forever. So when Wizard Zane suggests he flee with her after their land is invaded, she quickly follows.
Before the book begins, the author includes a map of the Land of Taramos, which is very helpful to the reader as Wizard Zane traipses along through the various mountains and valleys in his quest. When he mentions the Iron Mountains, for example, it is a boon for the reader to be able to quickly glance back to learn that the journey will not be an easy one, seeing that the characters have to go over water first and then through the valley. Although keeping track of all the characters may get confusing at times, this is still an engaging, mythical tale that winds and entertains at every page. Exciting sword fights with dwarves, dancing demons, and talking animals bring the world the author creates to life. While this book is certainly a fantasy, the themes of adventure and romance are universal and may appeal to many different readers.
