In the genre of metaphysical stories, this 252 page book is an unusual read. It begins with the foreword, her acknowledgements, and an introduction, leading to twelve chapters, a must-read autobiography, and a bibliography which also operates as end notes. These twelve chapters focus on the author's enlightening experiences in a different time/space dimension. The chapters range from being united with divine energy, group consciousness, voices of healing, and divine guides, the Tingling family and the power of that force, universal energy, divine essence lighting the darkness, and the ego.
The author relates her meditative experiences and beliefs regarding her relationships to a higher essence called The Tingling and to her various spiritual guides. While this focuses on her own enlightenment, there is interesting information regarding religious and scientific principles and beliefs which she utilizes to explain her own story. However, some of the scientific data appears misplaced and detracts from the rest of the work. The discussion of the horrors of 9/11 and death is the most salient work. Her credentials, including being a nurse with a Ph.D, add credence to her experiences.
Porter shows an ability to write about metaphysical experiences which can be difficult to translate into everyday language. Because of this ability, people with a basic belief system regarding the varieties of consciousness can gather an understanding of such transcendent insights, while those who have already reached such transcendent levels will experience the book as one of continued learning and validation.
