Stephanie McConnell's childhood life is ideal, with her father, mother, and two siblings. When her brother and sister contract a deadly disease while the family is in Africa, her life is thrown into turmoil. This fictional biography follows the character through each stage of her life, from childhood to old age. Characters come and go much the way friends and family do in real life, and despite the dramatic nature of the story, the situations and people are all very believable.
