This I Know

"Don't run away and hide, but bring everything into the light, and let His countenance smile upon your life."

Patricia Martin's This I Know is a compelling book of faith that encourages all believers in Christ to embrace his boundless love. Each chapter is essentially an instruction to the reader (e.g., "Be Aware of False Teachings.") More than anything, Martin uses her voice to unite all in Christ and help them understand the true meaning of healing. In This I Know, the author shares countless examples of seemingly terminal diseases, including cancer in her own life, being healed after entrusting and surrendering to God, and perceiving him as the "Great Physician."

Using biblical Scripture as prayers throughout her book, Martin conveys the message of God: once they believe in Him as the eternal truth and love, they shall never be alone in any of their actions. This life-changing relationship with God will allow individuals to avoid looking at their weaknesses, and the mountain of lies that Satan has afflicted on humanity.

Using Daniel and Joshua as examples of devotion and obedience towards God, Martin acknowledges that being happy, in the true sense, is a choice. Perhaps the most intriguing chapter, however, is "Satan's Plan for this World and All People." Instead of the devotion and obedience, Martin emphasizes how Satan relishes everything that is physically, emotionally, and spiritually detrimental to our being. From alcohol and cigarettes to gambling and pornography, the list of Satan's vice goes on.

Ultimately, Martin's own life experiences and transformation have inspired her to spread the message and the love of Jesus Christ. Instead of focusing on the vices of the world, one should imagine how different their lives would be if they begin each day with a prayer and seek to establish a direct relationship with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
