This and That Find a Word Puzzle Book by R. Robitaille Trafford Publishing
book review by Wendy Strain
"A child's laughter is like an angel's song."
This is a collection of 30 word find puzzles arranged around a variety of subjects. No specific unifying theme to the puzzles is immediately apparent although each puzzle adheres to its own internal theme. Some topics covered seem geared more toward children's interests, such as A Christmas Celebration or Walt Disney Forever. Others are definitely intended for a more mature audience, particularly the obscure terms used in Just Words.
There are a few problems with some of the puzzles. At times, a letter or two in the grid is changed, making some words impossible to find without looking into the provided answer key. This answer key is itself something of a puzzle to solve as 'circled' letters are highlighted individually. This glitch regarding an altered grid also occurs in one of the number puzzles, challenging the puzzler even more. Alternate spellings occasionally cause trouble as well.
Robitaille adds an extra degree of difficulty by providing the word lists on the opposite side of the page as the grid, requiring the puzzle solver to either find the words without the list, memorize the words to be found or flip the page over and back for each new word. Several other surprises are built in, all designed to challenge the user and create a memorable book.
